I think man on right is Frank Filer …not 100% but i’m sure he lived near us in Dipland Grove and i’m sure my mother used to stop and speak to him when we were with her whilst this work was in progress.

Frank Filer ( chisel )was a skilled stonemason who lived at I’m sure was number five Dipland grove and he would have been responsible for the building and repair of many of Blagdon stone walls. Derek is correct the other gentleman is John Birch who was Parish Council Chairman at the time I believe. John lived with his wife Daphne initially at the old Rectory and later had Easton House built in the Orchard of the Old Saddlery. They were both keen amateur Artists plus John grew Orchids and was quite an expert on them, he kindly provided orchids for my wife’s Bouquet when we married.
