    This is my grandfather Fred Watts, with two of his daughters, probably Hilda (later Mrs Crompton) and Ethel (later Mrs Alf Panes) They are in the ‘paddock’, which later became an orchard, and which now has a large walnut tree in it. The school house can be seen in the background. In the near background is my house even before grandpa altered it. The date is about 1904.
    Look at that Leghorn hat!

    1. The photo is back to front!!
    2. My mother always said it was a Leghorn hat, but these are a special kind of straw hat. That huge hat looks more like fur or feathers!
