    Nice taxicab, circa 1973. Was originally used in London; I can remember seeing this cab hacking the streets of London. Note the chrome bumpers with overriders. These were much sought after accessories to be added to later models which came with inferior bumpers as new equipment. It was legal to replace the rubbish ones with those chrome specimens and the Public Carriage Office would pass them on a newer cab. Some owners even replaced the rear screen with an older smoked glass version salvaged from a past model. This, too, was legal and would be passed. I saw a newish cab recently with the ‘Austin’ badge affixed to the boot lid.
